Smyrna Garage Addition
The owner's of this beautiful mid-2000's Craftsman-inspired home just outside of Atlanta wanted to add a 3rd-car garage bay and functional space with whatever was left over. After working carefully with the owner's to find out how they live, the result was not only an additional garage bay but, additional storage, a mud room, and a morning room that enhanced the livability of their home and created spaces that they could all use and enjoy.

Part of the challenge was to blend the new garage with the rest of this mid-2000's Craftsman style home.

From the inside (prior to construction), designing a seemless entry to the garage space created an equally difficult challenge.

The new garage addition, shown here from the left side, features two shallow pitched reversed gable roofs and a shed style roof butting up the existing home.

The panelized cooler/refrigerator is an excellent design detail.

Additional details, like the extra large overhangs, wood corbel brackets, and recessed lighting, were added to the home's exterior.

The view from the left side of the home (prior to construction) shows just how difficult it was goiing to be to get a one-story garage in and keep the upper windows in-tact.
